🍵 Matcha Mondays: Pottery for Tea Lovers Pottery has always played a key role in the history of matcha tea culture—especially in the crafting of bowls and tools that elevate the ritual. For centuries, ceramics have shaped both the beauty and functionality of tea preparation. This course invites you into that tradition, giving you the skills to create your own matcha essentials through hands-on instruction and approachable techniques. Whether you’re brand new to pottery or have some experience, Matcha Mondays offers a perfect blend of creativity and tea culture. Over four weeks, you’ll craft three essentials for your matcha practice: Matcha bowl (chawan) Whisk holder (chasen kake) Matcha canister (nakama) Along the way, you’ll explore wheel-throwing, handbuilding, and glazing techniques that will leave you with a set of functional, food-safe, and beautifully finished pottery. By the end of the course, you’ll not only have handcrafted pieces for your tea ritual, but also new pottery skills to carry forward. 🗓️ Schedule: Mondays in October 2025 @ 6:30 PM (Starting October 6 — please plan to attend all sessions) 1️⃣ Oct 6 – The Matcha Bowl (Chawan): Learn wheel-throwing fundamentals to create a wide, tapered tea bowl 2️⃣ Oct 13 – Matcha Canister (Nakama): Handbuild a storage container using coil techniques 3️⃣ Oct 20 – Whisk Holder (Chasen Kake): Refine your wheel-throwing skills with taller forms 4️⃣ Oct 27 – Glazing Session: Glaze all three pieces to make them food-safe and uniquely yours ❗ Please note: Attendance at all sessions is essential, as we’re unable to offer makeups for this specialized course. 💲 Cost: $130 Includes instruction, materials, and glazing for up to 4 pieces. You’ll have plenty of time to practice during class—just bring your curiosity and love of tea. 👥 Why Small Classes Matter With a maximum of 13 students, you’ll receive personalized support and guidance at every step. Classes are intentionally small to give you the space and encouragement to grow your skills while enjoying the process.
