Matcha Mornings — July 2026
Overview
Matcha Mornings is a 4-week pottery course on Saturday mornings. Classes meet Saturdays from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM on July 11, 18, and 25, 2026 (studio closed Saturday, July 4 for Independence Day). The final glazing session is Saturday, August 1 in studio — or you can choose to glaze in the park on Sunday, August 2 at the Chess Pavilion, North Ave Beach. Small class sizes (maximum 13 students) ensure personalized instruction.

Refund Policy
Non-refundable 5 days before the start. A $25 cancellation fee applies before this. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult who is also enrolled in the course.
Attendance Policy
If you cannot attend a session, please email potterychicago@gmail.com before enrolling and we will inform you if a makeup option is available.

Practice taller forms on the wheel for your matcha whisk.

Sip Mug or Matcha Canister
Create a cozy sip mug or handbuild a traditional-style canister.

The Matcha Bowl (Chawan)
Learn wheel-throwing fundamentals and create your primary matcha vessel.

Glazing Session
Default glazing is Saturday, August 1 in studio using food-safe options.
- Bonus OptionAug 2Optional
Glaze in the Park
Bonus Option! You can instead glaze in the park on Sunday, August 2 at the Chess Pavilion (North Ave Beach). Finished pieces are ready in about 7–10 days after glazing.
