


Summer Markets Handbuilding Course
Summer Markets is a 5-week handbuilding course inspired by your local farmers market. Choose Wednesdays or Thursdays at 6:30 PM, or Saturdays at noon — same projects, same price (Wednesdays from June 3, Thursdays from June 4, Saturdays from June 6, 2026).
Overview
Summer Markets is a 5-week pottery course inspired by the sights, smells, and textures of your local farmers market — no wheel required. Choose Wednesdays (June 3–July 1) or Thursdays (June 4–July 2) at 6:30 PM, or Saturdays (June 6–June 27) at noon — same weekly projects: sip mug or planter, wall vase, berry basket, charcuterie board, and a July glazing session. Saturday section: studio closed July 4; group glazing Sunday, July 5 at noon (or any time in July by appointment). Select your day on the enrollment page before checkout. All tools and materials are included; optional tool kit $20.

Non-refundable 5 days before the start. A $25 cancellation fee applies before this. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult who is also enrolled in the course.
If you cannot attend a class, please contact potterychicago@gmail.com before enrolling and we will inform you if a makeup option is available.
Wednesdays at 6:30 PM (from June 3); Thursdays at 6:30 PM (from June 4); Saturdays at noon, June 6th–27th, plus a flexible 5th class (glazing) in July (group glaze Sun July 5 at noon; studio closed Sat July 4).

Choose your track: a sip mug for morning drinks or a planter — pinch pot and handbuilding fundamentals.

Build a wall-mounted vase using coils and slabs with an eye toward display and drainage.

Berry basket
Slab and coil techniques for an open berry basket form.

Charcuterie board
A slab-built board sized for snacks, cheese, and market treats.

Glazing
Group glazing Sunday, July 5 at 12:00 PM (studio closed Saturday, July 4). Food-safe glazes. If you cannot make July 5, no worries — contact us to schedule glazing any time in July to finalize your pieces.
