October 6-Week Pottery Course — Thursdays

Overview

This 6-week pottery course is perfect for anyone looking to start a new hobby, refine their skills, and meet like-minded people! You'll create functional, personalized pieces while learning both wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques. Classes meet Thursdays at 6:30 PM with flexible glazing anytime in November (Nov 1–30). Week 2 is coil building mugs, and week 5 goes back on the wheel to refine every technique from the first four weeks. Courses are kept small, at 14 students, to ensure personalized instruction. Most students finish 5–6 final pieces (maximum of 6 to ensure kiln space). All tools and materials are included, with the option to purchase a personal tool kit for $20.

Refund Policy

Non-refundable 5 days before the start. A $25 cancellation fee applies before this. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult who is also enrolled in the course.

    Throwing Part 1

    Centering clay, forming cylinders, and crafting simple bowls.

  2. Week 2Oct 8

    Coil Building Mugs

    Build a mug by hand, rolling and stacking coils, then smoothing the walls and adding a handle.

  3. Week 3Oct 15

    Throwing Part 2

    Improve your control with taller forms, even walls, and refined shaping.

  4. Week 4Oct 22

    Throwing Part 3

    Learn trimming techniques and how to add footers (bases).

  5. Week 5Oct 29

    Throwing Part 4

    Back on the wheel to refine every technique from the first four weeks.

  6. Week 6Flex in November

    Glazing

    Flexible glazing anytime November 1–30. You'll receive up to 4 hours of studio time (split across 2 sessions) during open hours. Finished pieces are typically ready one week after glazing and will be held for 60 days after firing.
