    Part 1 — The Wheel Class

    Pick the session that fits your weekend. In this beginner-friendly 90-minute wheel class you'll learn to center, open, and shape clay with hands-on guidance — and keep one matcha bowl (chawan) for firing and glazing.

    Part 2 — The Glazing Picnic

    Glaze in the breeze by the lake

    By the Chess Pavilion at North Ave Beach

    We meet picnic-style by the Chess Pavilion at North Ave Beach to glaze your bowl outdoors with studio glazes and brushes. Bring your own picnic snacks & bevs! If outdoors doesn't work for you, glaze any day between July 20th and August 20th in our studio instead — a perfect backup if you can't make the park, or if you can only join for the crawl on August 2nd.

    Part 3 — The Matcha Crawl

    Old Town crawl with Mylai Matcha

    Sunday, August 2nd · 1:00 PM

    From the park to Old Town · right after glazing

    Straight from the glazing picnic, we walk from the park over to Old Town for a guided matcha crawl with Mylai Matcha — sip your way through the neighborhood's best matcha spots with fellow matcha lovers. Guests are welcome to bring their own mug or cup, as some samples may be provided at various stops.

Taking your bowl home

Your matcha bowl needs a final firing after glazing, so it won't go home with you on August 2nd. Pickup opens one week later, starting August 8. Schedule your pickup at thepotteryloop.com/pickup. We hold finished pieces for 60 days.
